In the world, but not of the world

Assemble the following simple items:

2 cups of water
black pepper
liquid soap

Sprinkle the pepper into both cups of water so that it covers the surface of the water.

Stick your finger into the first cup of water and pull it back out. What happened?

Now put just a drop of liquid soap into the second cup of water. Then put your finger into that cup and pull it back out. What happened this time?

After doing this, check the comments section of this post for the application of this little activity.

The water is the world.
The pepper is sin.
The liquid soap is Christ.
Your finger is you.

We live in this world. Sin is all around us. Before we come to Christ, we are covered in sin, just as your finger was covered in pepper when you pulled it out of the first cup of water.

But now! Now we have been washed with the blood of Christ! He has made us clean. And we are clothed with him--we have traded our sin for His righteousness.

So now, even though we are still in the world, and surrounded by sin, we are not of the world, and we are free from sin.

Let us continue to go forth and shine for Him in this dark world.

Reflect on the following verses:

Jn. 17:9-18
Gal. 3:26-27
Eph. 5:8-16
Eph. 6:10-16
I Pet. 2:9

May God grant you His richest blessings, and may have all kinds of peace in believing.

Nicely done Joyce. Are you back now? Have you seen Barbara? If so where was she and what was she doing.

I'm sure baptism could be applied somehow.

Thanks to all of you for your comments!!

Carol, you're absolutely right about the Baptism. We aren't clothed with Christ until we are baptized into Him--see the Galations passage!!

That was pretty cool and very true. Thanks for visiting. I'm a member of the FFMB from Carol. I just joined yesterday, 25th of Feb. so will be joining the march on next Friday. I'm playing the organ which I really love to do in real life. I can play forever and tirelessly.
